Brought the SC back in and from suggestions I got ( plugs, timing .manifold) started with plugs they looked good not fouled but cleaned and regaped anyway, no change. Next went to the mag, tried moving to different settings still no change. this left no. 3 pull the manifold and check it out, but I had this nagging gut feeling so I picked up a new set of plugs (same no.) put them in and the old girl smoothed right out! The other plugs looked good and weren't that old I guess you just can't take anything for granted. Thanks for all the help and suggestions

Ralf: It has been said, that "to make the same mistake twice is insanity". Just curious, what Spark Plugs did you install?

John, put Autolite 437 back in ,never have had any good results with Champions in any of my old tractors

Wow, that's the Plug to use. Question is, why did they foul? With new Copper Wires, could be weak spark due to Mag needing work, or running too rich? We had a problem with the Copper Wires our supplier was supplying, several years ago when they were from China, but since then, they are supplying USA Wires & the problems ceased. Just a thought.

I have found that once you flood the engine [SC] the plugs will not fire right again even if they are new. Even drying them out with a torch will not help. It must be the stuff in the new gas.
