correct me if I am wrong but the early 504's had a smaller sleeve bore and did not have piston cooling nozzles or recessed head bolt threads (or not as deep) as the later engines, the hi-perf (later)504's had the heat isolator plate between the fuel lines and the manifold, head bolts are longer in the later engines

Scott as mentioned the very early 504 turbo engine had no piston oil spray and in the 1370 they had cast iron oil pans. The next change was the HP engines with a larger oil pump and oil spray, larger oil cooler, stamped tin oil pan and fuel line heat shield. The next and last change was the longer head bolts with the threads set deeper into the block and there was a little more casting on top to help support the sleeve flange better. I think the main brg bolts were a bit longer and threaded deeper also. That is all I can think of. Rod.

ok,,, so I am LOSING my mind,,, I read a whole different question there Sorry for my stupid answer below,,,, not sure what the heck I think I have read,,,, I think it time for a retreat,,,

As this blocks get used and age the cracks seem to become more common. Even the latest blocks. They can be repaired, that is always a option worth considering, Rod.
