Customer keeps cracking A59533 cover on steering housing assy. I have never sold these covers before this. Any ideas?

two things I have seen, the stops broken of the axle that contacts the spindle, and or the piston in the steering sector is out of time and traveling to far one way breaking the cover

Tom, Would like to mention if those items check out OK another place I have seen cause a problem is if one of the stops cast into the bottom of the steering actuator housing are broke off. They also limit steering movement and having one broke off can allow piston to strike the end cap and possibly breaking it. My 970 has that issue. Also the power steering pressure can increase if the relief valve seat becomes loose and then can thread upward compressing the relief spring. That can increases pressure enough to break a end cap or blow a hose. I have seen that occur only twice. Rod.

I think you are both onto something. I took a walk out in my yard and seen the areas you talk about broke. Thanx, Fred

Good catch Rod, I should have added that one as well, I have seen them broken as well, the first one I fixed that broke the end cap had been to two dealers with no fix other than they had changed the cracked end cap,, I still have a end cap on hand, I would say someone had changed the bottom seal and had not installed the shaft in "time"
