Our former head mechanic stopped by today to drop off some aligning dowles for the flywheel and said he could get the speed-o tube out of the tranny. Ten minutes later he had it out, and the broken end of the flex cable in hand..I couldn't get my hand to bend enough to get a socket on the 3/8"cap bolt that held the retainer in place. He wiggled his hand in and got the socket and a ratchet on it and then pryed on the handle with a bar to break the bolt loose. once the bolt was out and retainer clip was removed, the tube pulled out of the drive gear housing.
the first pic you can see the bolt on the web of the tranny and the clip on the tube and the drive down on the end of the pinion. Second pic is the broken end of the drive cable and the third is of Terry, known to all around here as GOD. My dad hired him directly out of highschool and he is a self tought mechanic, although he has attended the Case training schools for many years also. It got to the point when our Case service reps would call him for advice. He is retired from the machinery business now and works in the local school bus garage. He also does a lot of repairs for the local farmers, including my uncles up on the farm.

He looked very happy to do what you could not do! Better feed him a barley pop or 10 if he likes them!

Our local "god"'s name was Johnny Herubien. If he didn't know ot about case you didn't need it fixed. He used to come out to the farm sometimes to fix our stuff and dad always wanted him to do the jobs at the dealer. Glad you 930 is coming along well!

Greg, how are you doing. I haven't heard anything from you lately. The engine on the 770 will be next years project. Did you get the puller going and run it last season?? I briefly talked to your Dad a couple of times last summer, but haven't wandered too far from home with all the health issues that I had this past year. Hopeing those issues are behind me.

Hi Loren, I am glad to see you are doing well and also enjoy your updates and pics. Yes the puller is up and running. We were able to take take it to 3 pulls last Summer. It ran very well but it needs more tuning. We left a lot horses under the hood! We should be at the Saratoga County fair in July and if Cobleskill has our Super Farm class this year we will be there also. You can view the first pull on the new engine on you-tube 2015 Super Farm tractor pulls in Greenwich NY, it is the first tractor and only Case. Hope to see you sometime at a pull! I love having your dealer stickers represented on the tractor! Gregg
