Advice needed! Case CK 930 shifting issue!

Hey everyone! Im in need of some advice, I'm currently looking at purchasing a 68' Case 930 Comfort King, only issue it has is that it won't let you shift into reverse.. Plus, the gear shifter feels as if it has a lot of play in it (up and down) any advice as to

What might have caused this? This is a diesel, with the fuel

Tank behind the seat. Any help Or advice woul be quite appreciated!!

You will need to remove the seat and suspension and then the floor plate. Then you can get to the 4spd shifting lever. Chanches are you have a problem down in the shifting basket under the tranny cover.
See my reply over on TT and disregaurd what Cat guy said. The range lever has nothing to do with your reverse problem as bro pointed out over there.

Thanks for that Adirondack Case Guy. I'm going to look into this further.. Do you think it could be a big issue?

It's hard to say how big an issue it might be. You will have some time and rusty bolt issues to get to the piont where you will be able to get the tranny cover off. Those trannies were tough.
I pulled the cover off mine today to have a look-see and here is what is inside. I was very pleased with the condition of the gears in this 1969 931. The clock stopped at 8658 hrs and I believe it has many thousand hrs more
Someone posted the other day about their 930 with range gear problems and a gear had eaten it's way through a tranny web. You never know.
If I was a betting man I would wager that the tractor has a problem with the interlocks or a broken shift rail or fork in the shift basket bolted into the tranny that you see in the pic.

(quoted from post at 09:11:40 04/21/21) Where do we find the TT page? Im new here and having basically the same issue
Hello RobinnJim welcome to YT! You have 3 maybe 4 things working against you here. 1. The poster Adirondack Case Guy whose name is Loren is currently having some medical issues and has not posted here for several months. 2. Since we have some highly opinionated folks here who do not like a lot of change this forum can be viewed in two different formats named Classic and Modern. You replied to this ..Archived.. post in Modern, currently anyone viewing this on Classic cannot see this post. That is a short term issue while the moderators of this forum do some major system upgrades. 3. I would guess the majority of long term folks on the Case topic forum that know the most about your problem use Classic view. 4. Is kind of a difficulty I am passing over to you. TT is simply the ..Tractor Talk.. topic section of these boards. Sort of a ..one for all.. topic area. I will run a Search for Adirondack Case Guys ..ACD.. posts on that TT section and hopefully post a link to it. You will then have to page back to around the 2016 date shown on the topic you replied to and find the post ACD was referring to.
https://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/search.php?search_id=422670923&start=50
There you go, if that does not go to a live link you will have to copy from https through the 50 at the end and paste it in you browser address bar at the top. I am guessing you will have to go 30 pages or so back. Now, ha ha.. after all that you could do this..view the post you made then go to the top left and click ..New Topic. Then label your post X tractor model shifting troubles. Then in the ..message body.. box describe the exact problem you are having. When you post that since you are posting a new topic and not replying to and old topic it will show in both views. I am an IH Farmall guy only come over here once in a while. I was looking for a post Loren made sometime ago concerning some of the very fine fabrication he had done. And that my friends could apply to most anything the man touched, highly revered from my stand point. Hope this helps, thanks for dropping by.

Well that link was a flop, I will just tell you how to do the search. In Modern click ..Search.. in the red rectangle at the top. Put Adirondack Case Guy in the Author search and select ..Tractor Talk.. as the forum you want to search. That should get you 207 pages to wade through, just go back to the date for Feb. 16.
