2590 P/S help

Got a customer who just bought a 2590 @ auction Saturday. Drove it 60 miles home, worked fine. Next day, 2nd & 3rd range on the Power Shift are not there. He spread manure this week in 1st range, Hyd's & PTO work fine, but no 2nd & 3rd. He pulled out the slave spools in the control cover & they were free. Any ideas?
 
John the common clutch pack used in both 2cd and 3rd powershift is C-3. I would suspect a leak or some form of damage in that circuit or clutch pack. A pressure and flow leak test would help pinpiont the problem. Severe leaks can occur in the valve or feeder tubes, but it is unlikely. More often than not it requires internal repairs to remedy that complaint, but its best to test and check the easier things first and then split if needed. Rod.
 
Rod: Thanks for the reply. If there were something going on w/ C-3, would it have given some kind of warning? He said everything was normal the day before, no indication of anything wrong.
 
John it is somewhat odd that it would happen overnight. Still it is more than likely a problem with C-3, that is why it is best to test and narrow down the possibilities, Rod.
 
John we have seen one of the oil tubes slip out of place many times. These are located under the ps valve. Just a thought
 


John, a pressure gage in C3 test port on the tranny control valve will be your bestus friend, it should have 0 lbs pressure in 1 and 180-210 appx in 2 and 3 powershift and 0 in reverse. HTH. I am assuming it backs up ok.
