The DC that I recently brought home was running when I picked it up. After unloading it would not run. Someone used silicon to seal bowl & top. The gas ate it up and plugged everything. I spent two hrs. cleaning the mess up & installing a kit. Steve

While I agree in that application I heartily believe in sealers. in fact, our engines we build for pullers we use absolutely no gaskets on at all, red hi temp silicone for everything. Even the block to head joint is red silicone. When we first started building DCs head gaskets were our biggest problem area.so we eliminated that issue. Not for tractors that work all day but for our purposes,, great

I had an inline gas filter disintegrate on the 300b, took the carb off or apart way to many times to figure that one out. I guess they should be changed on a schedule.

Yup.. Alcohol is a wonderful solvent for RTV. Old type of gas was good to soften it too. Don't ask how I know this. After that rule in my shop was never use rtv where gas/fuel was around or near it. Stuff works great against oil and lots of other substances.
