Wondering?? Most Interesting Man???

I got to wondering, who the most interesting man on here is. Obviously he has to be a CASE enthusiast through & through. Let's ponder this, as most of us are farmers & truckers. Also guys like Don L. & me who supply parts, but that is most uninteresting. Well..... a truckers life is much more interesting than a farmer, I've done both, so I can say. Now, a trucker who farms would be "A Most Interesting Man"!!! But wait! Would all farmer-truckers be equal, or would one be more interesting than the other? Obviously a farmer-trucker from the North, say.... Minnesota would be "A More Interesting Man" than a farmer-trucker from the South, (no offense) just because of the changing of the Seasons & battling snow. Obviously "A Most Interesting Man" would keep his life busy, and not "let grass grow under his feet", maybe take on a restoration when not trucking or farming. A 1030 would be a perfect project for "A Most Interesting Man".

How about a farmer-trucker with other skills, say maybe....a welder?? Now there would be "A Most Interesting Man"!! Most important, "A Most Interesting Man" would have to keep you on the edge of your seat, totally mesmerized with his escapades!!

Gosh!! Who would fill those shoes, "A Most Interesting Man".... Farmer-Trucker-Welder who led a very interesting life, who can re-tell it, from Minnesota??

I figured it up John and I come in at about the 75th percentile.LOL I'm from Iowa instead of Minnesota so that knocks off about 10 points. I farm and kinda truck (24 ft gooseneck livestock trailer - subtract maybe 5 points). I fixed up an SC instead of a 1030 so that probably deducts 5 more points. I do weld but I'm kinda lazy sometimes (like I'm doing this at 4:00 in the afternoon to avoid going out in the snow to chore). Probably subtract 5 more points. So my composite score is a 75. I sure would like to be more interesting but I don't know if it's worth it. I'll just let that guy up in Minnesota have the big trophy. I'll just get one of those participant awards. HEHe. ADB

Well I guess I score even lower. I don't own a Case but do drive a CaseIH from time to time so deduct 50 points here alone, I do minor trucking (like you bumper pull and gooseneck hauling tractors) so this is another 5 off, Don't farm unless you count brush hogging and putting food plots for hunting another 20 deduction, my welding skills are marginal at best but I do get the job done so here is another 5 off, I don't put much off so stay even through this one, I don't live in Minn so another 10 off. So let's see that give me a composite score of 10. If I keep adding points off I will be in the negative so think I will stop here......

Hey John Not sure how the point system works but I am from Iowa drove truck and ran a 100 head stock cow herd. Yes it was all done with Case tractors, from a DC to a 930. Don't know how I did it all but I do know that it would not have happened with out the support of my lovely young Wife and Son.

On a more serious note. If we are seriously looking for the most interesting personI would nominate someone who buys old Cases and ships them all the way to Cambodia, fixes them up, and puts them to use in humanitarian aid. I sincerely admire that Case guy. ADB

John rumor has it almost all guys from MN are nice and interesting(who am I to argue) LOL, but everyone has a different idea on what interesting is. Myself I think almost everyone of you guys NOT from MN are interesting because your territory and ways of doing things are different than the way us Minnesotans do things. Rod.

If a fellow has driven through Minnesota, knows what end of the welding rod to put in the stinger, possesses a CDL ,and has one Case tractor with plans to buy more, Could he qualify as the most interesting man? Just asking, Oh, and he drinks DOSEKI BEER

Well John the man you speak of is also named Jon and we haven't heard from him on the Case forum here in a while , only on tractor talk. I agree after visiting with him in person he is a very interesting man. He makes my life look boring as well , sure a lot of tales to tell.

shux john ,, it probably ought to be you , or a lot of other Great Americans on here ,it would be hard to list the top one hundred . or we could list the bottom one hundred//,,. Like a overweight 250 lb Hoosier that is married to a hot blooded classy Sicilian gal with a real mink coat and a very Italian Accent,. I give up on nearly everything ,,I have give up hog farming . quit drivin nails and gave my home improvement bizniz to my son , taught hi school religious education to a tuf bunch of kids for 7 yrs , and to make matters worse ,,.since 2002 I have been involved with county government ... yes my epitaft could read that I was farmer , carpenter , businessman , statesman , politician, and husband and father and grandfather ,and NEVER a Good MECHANIC ,.. but the reality would be after all my best efforts , I have done everything until I could not hold my end and was starting to fall ,,. and so I stopped and got out with grace ...

Hey Tom,
when you talk to bro next time, ask him if Mr. Peanut has chased any dogs with his wheeler lately. I got to hear the whole chase on my phone. Hilarious on my end. Sounded like a Willey Coyotee chaseing the Roadrunner cartoon.
The only thing missing was the anvil on a ledge. I'm still laughing about it !!!!

DC Tom ,for one

I'm a little dissapointed John that you completely missed that all that is done while fighting off starvation and disease! Lol

Ok, here's the story for those unaware. This is a joke pointed at me. I've had some serious health issues latey. They started about 10 years ago with sinus problems, these were diagnosed as allergies. They put me on bi-weekly allergy shots. About 5 years ago I started having problems breathing, this was diagnosed as asthma, and I started inhalers for that. Over the last 5 years things got steadily worse. My sinuses kept having problems that required surgery, my 5th was last friday. My breathing also kept getting worse adding more and more drugs to try to keep me breathing. As of a year ago I was on just over $10,000.00 per month in medications trying to keep me breathing. At my anual checkup 6 months ago it was obvious that all that was not working and the end was in sight if they didnt stop the deterioration. So they finally sent me down to the University of Minnesota hospitals.

Now this is where the joke starts. The first doc I saw was the ear, nose, throat surgeon to do my sinus surgery. She looks in my nose and says "uh oh"! Not really what you want to hear from a doc. Lol Then she says she is putting my surgery on hold and doing tests. When I asked what the uh oh was about she refused to tell me because she didn't want me to worry. Sorry, but that didn't work. So then she starts sending me to other docs. A pulmanologist first. He tested my breathing and said I had a really interesting case and he was anxious to work with me. Next was the allergist, she said she spent the entire previous night going over my files and I was her most interesting patient. Finally it was the rheumatologist who actually gave me the final diagnosis, but also said that I was his most interesting case.

It was right after that that I called Loren the ACG guy and was venting to him that I really did not want to be interesting, at least not like that, and just being crabby about doctors and life in general. Of course he gave me the moniker of the most interesting man. After that chat I was feeling a bit better so I went on fb and made up this pic.

Of course both John and Loren thought that was funny. So that's where the "most interesting man" comes from.

The diagnosis I got is that I have a very rare disease called Churg-Straus syndrome. It's an imune system disorder related to rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus. This one attacks the small blood vessels of the kidneys, lungs, and sinuses and eventually the joints and skin. I am lucky in that it has not hurt my kidneys yet, but there is a lot of damage to my lungs and sinuses. The good news is that even tho there is no cure, it can be held in remission fairly easily. So I think some better days are ahead for me.

And Loren, thank you for listening and giving me a chuckle when I needed it.

Jon: We all wish you Well & Long Life!! Ever so grateful for your sense of humor. Your "copy & paste" picture there tops them all!! Here's the thing,; when we see or talk to you or both @ the same time, we see a "cheerful" Jon, and that will lead your way to good health again. Hang tough.

Hi Jon,
Hi from the Case guy NW of Hinckley. Didn't know you were having health problems but glad to hear that the problem has finally been diagnosed and that there is a method to deal with it. We're lucky to have medical institutes in this state like the U of M and the Mayo Clinic. The Mayo fixed me up about 5 years ago when I wasn't getting fixed anywhere else. Hope you continue to improve. Bill

Jon you are the most interesting man. I am so glad that they can get it under control for you. Are you still driving truck? Well you get back to Ohio I and Cheryl will take the most interesting man out for dinner. Get well my friend. Jerry from Ohio

Jon,

I'm glad to hear you finally got an accurate diagnosis. Hopefully the doctors will be able to help you control it well into the future. Have safe travels and a healthier new year. Don

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the call , really enjoyed the chat. Glad you

are one the road to remission , both of us are on the downhill

run .

Got the house rebuilt and we are in it as of dec 29. The

camper that we were using was good in the warm weather ,

but the cold wind blew thru it bad.
