770 Project Has Begun

Much of this project has similarities to ACG Lorens. When finished with the teardown only the bare chassis will remain. Hopefully we will avoid a engine overhaul but have many other things that need attention. I will try to show a few steps along the way. Rod.

Rod,
a 770 diesel cabbed tractor is my dream machine. Are they adequate for a 4x5 round baler? Small cattleman so not a pushed custom operator.
Thanks
Andy

Yes ,it should handle that size without a problem. My 770 is not a cab tractor and it handled a Vemeer baler great. Don't remember the baler number or size of bale but I do remember they weighed 1200 pounds. And that was orchard grass -timothy mix.

Andy, I think Casenut answered your question. That sure is a cute calf, wish we had a few of those around here.

Thanks for the nice compliment on shop, next time a submit a pic I will actually have it clean, it was a little messy yesterday, Rod.

If this is a powershift model and if you do any work to the power shift I'd like to see some pics of the removal and rebuild, if you could. I'm gonna have to do some work to our 970 in the future and I'd be interested in seeing some pics of the process. I'm always impressed by your work!

This is a 8 speed tractor, I am reassembling a P Sh. in a 2096, maybe I can post a few pics of that. Not the same, but close. Rod.

I think I know why. A couple of gremlins showed up yesterday and scattered your tools, dropped some parts and spilled some oil.
They should have been shown the door but you just grinned and put up with it. Your a class act Rod!

Brad would you believe those darn gremlins show up occasionally and create leaks on tractors after they have been parked in the shop. There has been mornings when I open the door to go to work and say WTF where did all that oil on the floor come from, LOL. Rod.

Andy,

We use a 5610 Ford/NH to power a NH 644 4 x 5 round baler as a backup tractor. It does the job well, but is working to capacity. Should be similar in HP to a 770. Don

I hear you. I keep my skid loader in the garage during the winter months for snow removal. Every time I fix an oil leak, another one shows up somewhere else. Grrr
