The 930 is in the shop

Well the son came up Sat. and we gave the 930 a bath as best we could, and squeezed it into the shop. I puttered with it yesterday taking the rest of the platform off. There is 47 years of gunk packed between the trans and floor plates. I will take the fuel tank off today after
I drain it. It came here nearly full. Enough fuel to run my Kubotas all next year. I need to replace the shaft seals in the remote valve and clean the entire trans before painting that, and then reassemble the platform.
I have to make up a radiator cap that I can pressurize, to figure out where the coolant is leaking into the oil pan. I suspect the #1 head is bad (fuel cells) but I will probably tear it completely down and replace the sleeve 0 rings while I'm at it. The engine has been apart, and I don't know what the inside looks like. I have budgeted for a complete out of frame overhaul, but we will see how it looks.

At least the hyd filter is not a gold seal one like came on the tractor.
Actually the PO was very good about service and general care. The tractor has been well greesed and has gobs of greese at every jerk to prove it, HeHe. The area under the tank is tough to get at as the tractor has a factory cab and that area is pretty well hidden.

Knew I should have called in that Christmas Syrup order, that would have helped in the "budget fund", guess I'll have to wait till next run. : ) Good Luck Loren, wish I had the time to work on my projects like you do, maybe when I retire. !!

I can't agree with you more!!! As you said temp really dropped, and until I narrow up the wheel tread it is a real hassel to get out of the shop. All the cab flarings and deck was on when we pressure washed it. The crud was really packed in behind them.
Spent the afternoon scraping and wire brushing and using the shop vac to get rid of as much crud as I could off of it. Nearly filled a bushel tote with oil/fuel saturated dirt and crud. Still a lot of crud to get rid of before paint.

It look like it was set for 76" center, around here that spacing is for potatoes. Did you tuck her into to 60"?
Glad to see you got her in. Yes weather is coming or already there. Will be interesting to see what you find.
Thanks for the update.

John, my thoughts are, especially in our area, the "1030"s were pulled very hard, and I bet we had every one we sold with ring gear and pinion out of them, the transmission was basically the "830"s, and never "beef" up. Case's fix was to put a oil cooler on the "1030" to hopefully cool down the oil. I also think the first oil that was in there was basically Dextron.

Case would have been ok if they would have come out with the outboard planetary "1030" test tractor like the "1170" transmission, but someone made the decision to push the transmission one more time..... Well you know what happened. Hopefully they fired the guy that called this shot.
