Fuel Shut Off Control on 30 series Gas engine, 251

Would any one here know the purpose of this shut off control cam and linkage for a 730. Someone in the past flipped the A24306 cam 180 degrees so it no longer contacts any of the carb linkage.

Was this ment to stop dieseling of the engine after turning the ignition off. All linkage is still on the tractor, just hung up out of the way.

it was to stop the dieseling when shutting down when they are hot,,,

and by that I mean they will continue to run if hot enough with no spark, a term I was taught many moons ago

I appreciate the quick response. Had a TO-35 massey that would diesel like that for 15 minutes or more!

My 730 will backfire through the intake if I shut off with the key instead the throttle.
