spirit of 76 production

There is spirit 1570 on a J.D. dealers lot not far from me. This is at least the fifth spirit I know of around me. The ertl toy one I have says there were 200, 1570's built. Read on this forum they were only built in 13 and 1570. How many were built in 1370 and is the ertl box wrong. There don't seem like there would be that many around here if production was that low.

I sold a new "76" 1570, and it was in May of 77, I know my Dad was very happy with me, to finally get it off the lot.HeHe, I was late for a Case sales meeting, but after they heard why, the blockman said I wish you all were late today cause you sold a "76" I do have a picture of her someplace, will look over Christmas
 
Dan, they did build two 1370 Spirits to get the decals right for the soon to be released 1570,, as far as I know they kept them but may have sold one in recent years
 
I remember back when they came out the local Case dealer got one in. I don't recall how long it sat on the lot, but a local farmer bought it, he made them repaint it before he took it home.
 
I have never heard that, never seen any in production, but I stand corrected
 
Tom did a lot of them get repainted do to farmers not wanting them like the Gold IH's and did they mark them any where to know for sure they were not fakes like in the serial number or something, and before I forget Merry Christmas to you and your family and a safe and great New Year.
 
Kevin, quite a few were done in Stars and stripes,, I know of two 970s and one 1175 that were done by a dealer for customer's in the day, I think many more have been done in recent times,,, Merry Christmas to you as well
