I got the vac14 in the shop ... 1st question .. is it a pos. or neg. ground ?? 2nd .. will it be alright to use 10w 40 in it ?? 3rd ... how hard is it to adjust the front end ?? like to move it in some ... 4th .. will it handle a 6 foot blade o.k. without any weights on the front ?? and 5th.. how hard is it to replace the rubber bushing on the seat { it has a easy ride seat } ??

I'm sure I will have more questions as I go over it ... but will stop for now .

THANKS for any advice that you share with me .......... mark

factory it was Pos ground Mark, I run 15-40wt dsl oil year around in mine, winter you should be fine with 10-40wt , the front end may be easy and may not be, sorry they all are different yours looks pretty good so maybe not too bad a job, 6' blade is fine on them, I use 6' and 8' on mine, 6 works very well in all conditions, not weights needed for the blade, on the rubber changing, Take a few pics for easier reassembly

I just replaced the springs and all of the bushings in the seat on my VAC-14 this fall. Here is a tip: don't buy the bushing kit from Steiner. Only about 1/3 of the bushings actually fit, though you can make a few more fit by doing some machining. I ended up purchasing 1/2 of the bushings a second time, and re-machining most of those to fit like the originals. Also, the original bushings were pressed in place and then staked. Thus, I used a Loctite bearing retaining compound when pressing in the replacements to be sure that the new bushings would not work out. I used a bolt as a mandrel and hammered them into place after applying the retaining compound.
