This year seemed to flow from one job tot he next with no free time between them,, We had more rain this year in 45 days than we get all year on average,, it would get just dry enough to barley get over the summer fallow then it would rain again,, hay season once it started went on for over 3 weeks with me putting up 95% of my Barley as well this year,,, no place wanted any hay Barley seed this year, I had sold over 15,000 bushels of Oats and 4500 bushels of hay Barley seed local last year,,, this year under 500 total of both this year. I saved a few acres for seed again but with my bins so full I ended up cleaning out a bin in the wood grainery that had only been used as storage sine the mid 40's and filled it to the top, she held 1600 bushels. This year my hay was good but the grain did the best BPA in the Barley I have had so far,, just fell short of 100 BPA average,, one summer fallow field got away from me real bad 60 acres of it in a field that had gotten three hail storms the year before when it was in Oats, when I got the grain hay rolled up I went to work it as I seen it was very green but had not been right to it, it had some many Oats in it and headed out I really did not want to disc in in the ground, it was green weeds and Oats,,, I thought I might be able to combine it but it was just full of green weeds and I knew it was going to be a nightmare so I laid it down and round baled it too, made another 90 bales, then a few weeks later now that the rains had shut off and the ground got dry the weeds had grown back again and, we had turned the cows into it but they were breaking the weeds off walking through it was really going to be a mess, so I hooked onto one of my plows and plowed the whole field, just one of those years. It was a busy year for sure, I made a few straw bales in both round and small squares, totals round bales was a little over 900 bales and small squares was just over 1200. Only help I had was the man who buys my hay loaded and hauled 500 rounds,,, the squares are picked up by the buyers as well or I do not bale them,, I also do a bit of custom haying every year as well, sorry for the ramble, enough pics for now
