grinding feed

Had to grind feed before the snow storm a week ago and snapped this. Then ice and snow again today. Already tired of winter.

A week before the snow we had a couple shots of rain adding up to about 3" total. Then we had about 8" snow which was mostly melted by yesterday but today we had 1/4" ice followed by 1-2" snow. Done snowing now but getting colder all day. It is a complete sloppy mess around here, unable to haul any manure to help with feedlots. Just wish it would dry up or freeze. 1st year in my farming career since 1989 that I have not taken chains off loader tractor all year. Very frustrating.

Great to see all that Case power in one spot. My Dad used to say an inch of snow makes a farmer's life 10 times harder. Don

Took me 5 hours to move the snow the other day before doing anything else. Today was an hour. Just a lot of waste of time and money in order to accomplish what really needs to be done. Most city people don't realize it. They want the snow to go sledding in or look like Christmas. I'll take bare frozen dirt. Save the rain for during the growing season please.

What brand of feed mill is that? Looks kind of small behind that tractor.

It's a 1250 International. 2 1/2 ton grinder/mixer. They make a 1350 which is a 3 ton. Same machine as an Artsway.

(quoted from post at 19:33:03 11/27/15) Evening Kevin.
Did your temps even out this week, or are you seeing below normal Wx? Chuck

Temps are in low to mid 20's today. Glad to hear from you again. Have to get together for a beverage again sometime. Now tonight 3 different weather forcasts for Sunday night through Tuesday morning. Ine station calling for light snow. One calling for 3"-6" snow. One calling for 12"-16". Which one do I believe? I know which one I don't want to.

(quoted from post at 20:11:12 11/30/15) Those were darn good grinders made sold by IH did a very good job of mixing.

Yes they do a good job of mixing and grinding both. They actually were made by Artsway. Don't remember the same model # in the Artsway. Very simple to fix if anything happens. Parts are still easy to come by. I just bought a 1350 Case/IH from another neighbor but the tank is rusted out in the bottom cone. Bought it for parts but mainly to put longer auger that folds back in half on to my 1250. Would be nice to have the bigger size when grinding but probably going to cost too much to fix.
