I bought this tractor this fall. It has a 159 cu experimental engine.

Casting date of 6-17-59 is visible

3 bolt starter

Odd clutch pedal

That certainly is an interesting piece, Is the block tagged as a 159? The torque tube would seem to be 30 series and I also have never seen a clutch pedal of that design.

Does not have a tag on the engine. The block has an experimental casting number. Here is a pic of the engine serial number. The number is what makes me think it is a 159.

I do believe that the tractor must be a very rare experimental model, reason being it does not have a serial number, export models had serial numbers but a exp designation on the plate. Most of those tractors do not make it to the public. Very nice.

(quoted from post at 02:39:15 11/24/15) A Gas 159, the 5 TH Expermental one made, you think?

I agree, probably the last engines built before regular production started, and with a casting date of 6-17-59 they were getting close to 530 production.

Thanks mEl for the complement!

Nick, all production engines were built the year before the tractor build date,,, I would bet your was a test to make sure the had the bugs out before they started rolling out engines for 1960
