I bought a 1490 case last fall and put a loader on it but the hydraulics are really slow on it. The cylinders are bigger so I knew it would be slower but they seem extremely slow. Is there an adjustment on the tractor for this? Thanks in advance. Mike

Does it have the tandem/double hydraulic pump? Easiest way to tell, is look under the tractor at the oil pan... one big suction line on one side, then are there 1 or 2 smaller pressure lines on the other side?

I just took a look at my tractor and you are correct. It does have one large hose on the left side and 2 smaller lines on the right side.

I will try posting at picture of my tractor. I have never done this before.

With the tandem pump(which you have based on the 2 lines)There is a control knob that you pull up/down under the right edge of the seat which "combines" all the hydraulics to the remotes. When up the 3 point works as it is splitting the hydraulic flow between the remotes and the 3 point. When down it sends it all to the remotes. The loader will be much, much faster with it down.

If it still seems slow with the flow combined, you need to clean your suction strainer under the transmission.

Thanks for your help. I will try that when I get home from work. I remember a lever there but didn't know what it was for.

I looked at that lever and the linkage is broke. It doesn't seem to want to pull up or push down but you can turn it and it acts
like it hits a stop. If it is suppose to go up and down, it's in the down position but the 3 point still works. Turning both
directions all the way does not change the loader speed.

It isn't a turning thing, it is a push/pull. The linkage goes to a valve that sits just under the remote valves(follow your remote linkage, then look under it). The valve may have gummed up from lack of use. The valve itself is slid left/right. No big deal to rebuild it if it is stuck, it only has a handful of common o-rings to seal it, and for seals on the valve itself.

If the 3 point still works, you are only using half your hydraulics for the loader.

I took a couple photos. (Bottom photo) Is of the knob to the right of the seat. (The only one I see) This is the one that will twist but don't notice any difference. (Top photo) The other one is under the platform on the right side which seems to be a horizontal puts pull lever but can't get that one to move. Am I looking in the right area? Thanks for all you help so far.

The top knob is a push/pull and is the one you need to get moving.

The knob you were twisting is your rate of lowering valve. It just adjusts how fast the 3 point drops.

Perfect! Thanks for all the help. I don't have much experience with Case but got a deal I couldn't pass up. So far I have
been very happy with the tractor. I plan on using it to haul my hay this summer, so I will get this freed up so the loader
moves faster.

Hey MNfarmboy83.

Just curious, but if you ever go to sell your Case 1490, please PM me or reply to this thread. We've got a 2wd version at home and love it. We've been looking forever for a 4wd to compliment it. It makes it so much easier to have two of the same make/model. Perhaps when you're looking to upgrade or something...
Thanks
