Son called me before I got to the farm and says the power shift lever on the Case 2290 seems like it is not connected. Told him to look underneath to see if the linkage had came loose. Yep he says something is broke. There is a valve (plunger) that is vertical on the transmission control body. This is the one that directly connects to the power shift lever. The top of the valve or "plunger" is broken off right where there was a hole to connect it to the linkage which connects to the shift cable. I can move the plunger up and down with vice grips. My question is HOW DOES THIS VALVE OR PLUNGER COME OUT????? I would think it would pull right upward and out. I will either get a new one or weld and machine the broken one. Thank you for your responses.

The book shows the spool coming out the top of the valve which means you would have to remove the valve from the tractor. But I would see if it would come out the bottom first. Remove the cover on the bottom of valve and remove the plug in the center of the valve that holds the detent ball and spring. After doing that the spool might just slip out the bottom making replacement easy. If it does not come out the bottom you will have to remove the valve from the tractor and take it out the top. Rod.
