511b no power

I have a 511b that will not pull itself down the road in high gear. I went thru the carb, it is spotless inside. I only run premium non ethanol gas in it. the plugs are nice and honey brown, not black. I looked at the points, no pits or burnt spots. I timed it by ear, tried running it a little advanced and a little retarded and I have no change. I can't figure out what I could be missing. how would I find the timing marks to time this with my light, I did't find any marks by the crank pulley. maybe painted over? thanks, Dan

First off, do the brakes get warm or hot, when running on the road??? Have you checked to see what oil, and how much is in the rear end. Too much heavy oil in the tranny will make it very slugish.
Just another angle for you to pursue, plus you might also check the mechanical advance in the distributor to make sure that it is not disfunctional.

This is something that I have experienced with those tractors, If power seems normal in the lower gears but lazy in faster gears, the Rockshaft seals may have allowed the rear to get clear full of hydraulic oil from the front box causing extreme drag due to overfill, Many times it will push oil out the breather and the housing will become very hot at road speed.

The timing is checked underneath the tractor at a hole on the HR side of the bell housing, there will be a rollpin as indicator pin and degree markings on the flywheel.

Years of experience I guess, Think of you often with your health concerns, know what heart and BP stuff is all about. God bless, Mel

Is The Rear end over Full = Do to the 3 pth Piston Leaking through or The Lever is Sticking in the Lift location putting the HYD System under load .Does the rear end have 80-90 oil in it or has it been changed over to Hyd Grage oil ?

Yea the rear end is overfull I changed the 3PH piston seal last year but I may need to relook at that again. I did think of the timing advance but
haven't looked at it yet. It does push oil out the shift lever when going down the road. I will drain some out and check the advance, and report back.
Thanks for all your suggestions, this sure is a good group of helpful guys. Thanks Dan
