For starters I got my gauge cluster back for the 300. I had it restored and it looks really good I think.
It was pricey but you pay for quality. Joe DeMaio is the one who restored it for me if anyone is interested.

Moving along I decided to take shims out of my narrow front bolster for the VAC and add them to my wide front bolster in an attempt to loosen up the stiff steering. It helped a little but it is still work to steer the VAC. I've seen in the manuals that they recommend just flipping up the grill for maintenance so I gave it a shot. Worked out pretty well.

You didn't happen to change any of the steering arms on the AWF? All of the shafts with steering arms need to be shimmed to remove end play, and to prevent binding. I would jack up the front end, and then systematically disconnect portions of the steering until I found the issue. Just recently, my SC with AWF started steering hard, and it turned out that the problem was that I had neglected to fill the front spindles with grease. I had greased the individual components, but dirt got between the thrust washers at the bottom of the spindles and bound them up. Once grease had pushed out the grit, it steered almost like it had power steering again.

Not a Case but on my Ferguson TO35 the steering was pretty hard found the front tires where toeing out should be toeing in about a 1/4 inch adjusted and it steers great. Randy

You may not get your VAC to steer easy. All the ones I've been on steered hard. I think the gear ratio for the VAC steering gear is pretty high. How does it steer when you have the tractor moving?

I have jacked up the front end and tried steering. The front end is loose and turns fine it is the worm gear area that is tight. I'll run it for a time like I have it now and see if it loosens.

I have heard of a man that restores Case dashes but have no idea of how to contact him. So I too would like to know how to contact Joe DeMaio.

How much does he charge for restoring a dash
