VAC Hard Steering

It seems like my VAC is having some hard steering issue. It usually takes both hands to turn it. I can do it with one but it is a lot of labor.
Does anyone else have this issue with their VAC with adjustable wide front? Or is it typically a easy steer? This is the newer style steering.

My VAC did this same thing. The shaft section directly below the steering wheel was the problem on ours. If you pull it apart there between the steering wheel and the first joint, you will most likely find the shaft needs to be lubed. We put up with this tractor steering hard for years, and started to take it apart from the tires back to the wheel. AS the saying goes, found the problem in the last place I looked. Bruce

In addition to what connor9988 said, there is also another grease zerk just ahead of the lower or first u-joint that needs grease. Also another one that hides behind the radiator grill at front of the steering gear housing. That lubes the internal worm, worm gear, and bearings in the housing. If all that doesn't help, than a couple of adjustments might be in order.

Jim.

I was told by the previous owner of my 51 VAC-13 that the steering tube really needs a zerk in it. He had the same issue.
