230 square baler

I need some input on this baler are they any good is it something I should stay away from I'm only looking to make about a thousand bales of hay a year. Are parts hard to come by

They are a great Small baler,,, that said parts are getting harder to find Yes,, needles are high dollar,, one will have no trouble at all baling 1000 bales a year,, but they are a smaller lower capacity unit,, if you want one to match your tractor and have the time to bale it and enjoy it I see nothing wrong with wanting one, also you should be able to do your own tuning and know how to "Fix" a baler when they quit tying, again I would say yes,,, if you want to bale it in a hurry no matter if it has some wet/green spots and not miss a bale... find you a NH ect that still has the parts available New,,, I have four or five CASE balers,, Love them, but I know them as well,, most times anymore I recommend a NH ect,,, parts is the main reason why, other is someone not knowing how to repair and maintain the knotters, 99% of the time these break needles is they are allowed to get out of time, loose chains, someone taking a link out of a chain and not knowing they have to retime them then even if you do not take the chain off the gears, the other 1% or so is a mechanical failure which will wipe out other parts when it happens
cnt

I have a case 230 hay baler and have baled about 850 bales so far this year with one more cutting to go, so capacity wise it should work for you. It is a first gear baler, it likes a good windrow but wants it fed in 1st gear. I do get a mistie every 150 to 250 bales, and very few "banana" bales, so there is very little to rebale. I prefer the Case 230 to my neighbors much newer John Deere for this reason. The time the JD makes by being higher capacity, it looses at the end due to the number of rebales.

I would recommend getting two, they can usually be picked up pretty cheap, so you can afford two. Also, get a manual, my manual gives good info on troubleshooting and adjustments, especially for the knotter. Every so often, check the timming, and grease it good and oil the chains each use. Mine serves me very well so far.
