Our CASE 610B with a 188 Engine (Combine) miss fired and died :
The short story .....IGNITION COIL LEAKED the internal oil down the CENTER high voltage lead and failed.
Installed COIL off spare engine and all is well.

The center terminal seal may have been marginal or the coil got hot enough to vaporize the oil to blow the seal. I would mount the new coil upright, avoid the marginal seal thing.

Thank you Joe(Wa)
And.....this tractor has a POSITIVE ground (+ on battery attached to frame of tractor) so I attached the + terminal of the COIL to the DISTRIBUTOR / POINTS connection......correct?
Bob......

hey, I like that ring around the plug wires idea,,, 1st time I ever saw a coil mounted upside down on a case or any make ,,, I doubt case actually built it that way ,and strongly suggest the coil be mounted uprite or horizontal..
