VAC oil question

I drained my 51 VAC torque tube and rear end oils. Ugly looking!!! Plan to flush with some diesel. It looks like the torque tube holds 2 gal, rear end 7 gal? Is that correct and is 90# correct for both? Thanks, Dick, OR.

1951 VAC should have a hydraulic pump mounted on the right side of the engine. You need a low viscosity oil for the pump and hydraulic system (eagle hitch?). Factory oil was like 10wt motor oil. Oils are much better now, I use a general purpose hydraulic oil. Some guys here in the artic states use 10w30 motor oil. Torque tube capacity is 2 gal. You may or may not have a hyd oil return filter as in the pic pending your s/n.

Transmission factory oil was 90 wt gear oil. Capacity is 7 gals, however VAC has flooded axles so if you are on the full mark before draining and don't get 7 gals out, the residual oil is hung in the axles. Best to jack up a wheel on each side in turn to get that old crappy oil and diesel well drained. A warm day is good, take your time let it drip.
