tire size ?

What size was the original front single tire on my 51 VAC? It has a narrow looking pick up tread tire on it currently. I want to get the correct tire on it. Thanks, Dick,OR

Looks to be a premium rain thread, keep it on! I beleive your like many of us that have many tractors needing tires and if you got one that holds air and works for your use, maybe for the best. Maybe you do a lot of road miles, or heavy loads and not forgetting what the sun is going to do to the new tire just sitting around. Just my two cents worth................chuck.

I agree, but I want to make it original. I'll be sandblasting and painting the tractor this winter. Few things to bring back to original first. Also want to add a belt pully. I have an extra VAC belt pully but it has the hydraulic pump on it, this tractor has the pump up front by the fan. Need to trade pullys with someone that needs a pump. Dick, OR.

Dick, I believe that it was probably originally equipped with a 7.50-10 three rib, they can be hard to find and are quite pricey when you do find them which I'm sure is the reason it has the tread tire on it that it has now which are much cheaper. Miller tire has them currently for $180 plus shipping, I will try to remember to check the size on my VAC in the morning to double check the size.

Dick,
The single front VAC's came with a 6:00 x 12 or a 7:50 x 10. Looks like you have the 6:00 x 12.
My brother had so much trouble with the junk tubes you get anymore that he had his 6:00 x 12 single front CA Allis foam filled. Nick

Thanks all. I'll check it tomorrow but I think it is a 10" rim. I do want to get a triple rib tire. No rush, I have plenty of time to watch for one. The one on there is round and goes round and round!! Dick, OR.

Dick

Nick has already provide the tire sizes and brought up an issue with tubes and the cast rims. Notice in the 7.50-10 link below from Miller tire, they sell a tube for "cast" rims. I don't have any experience with cast rims. My single front is on a 16" steel rim. They don't show a "cast rim" tube in the 6.00-12 size. You might give them a call and quiz them some about the availability????

Any dedicated farm tire store should be able to get you either size. I used to get them several different places. That looks like a 12" tire.
