I am helping a museum I'm part of work on a DC and have run into clutch issues. It was taken apart and the flywheel pulled off, clutch taken apart etc. Everything look good. The pressure plate was cleaned of all the old gunk and put back in. Everything was bolted back together and we got it running. It runs strong, idles nicely, governor kicks in correctly, good oil pressure etc.
The issue we are having is that to get the pulley to stop spinning we have to throttle it down and pull really hard back on the clutch handle to get it to slow down enough or barely stop to switch gears. We have tried loosening the clutch to the point that going from a dead stop to 3/4 throttle driving in 4th the disc is obvisouly slipping. However, even with the pulley disc brake almost completely maxed out (in terms of adjustment) it still won't stop the pulley. Where should I be looking or what should I be looking at??
Thanks.
