Hi all...was wondering if I could get a bit of advice.

I own a Case 580b, and I've been told by my septic supplier that I should have no problem setting 8' x 2' concrete rings with my machine. I'm sure these weigh between 2 and 3 thousand lbs. If I can set these, how deep can this machine set those rings. I have serious doubts. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

I would suggest you contact your supplier for an exact weight on those rings. If they are not the manufacturers and are only guessing the weight the people that make them will
know. One benefit with your backhoe is that as you lower the hoe into a hole you get more lifting power with the improved angle of the cylinders to the boom. If your machine will
lift a ring off the ground you'll be fine in the hole. I have had many backhoes but only one 580B and I never used it for lifting cement rings. If the power is on the short side I
would suggest removing your digging bucket while you do your hoisting. You may want to scoop up gravel or dirt in your front bucket to avoid the front coming off the ground,
this can happen as the boom lowers and puts the weight further away from the machine going down the hole with weight. Your front end bucket would likely lift those 8' rings
easily if there is room to maneuver the machine into place for the drop, providing it's no more than 8 -10 feet deep. The hoe should handle a 14' hole.
