Case 770 Hydraulics part 2

I have checked fluid it is good. I took the "full" sight glass off because I can't see through it. Fluid gushed out so I know it has plenty. I want to change hydraulic filter but, my question is: Do you have to take the assembly off to get the bottom off to replace the filter? It appears that it has been a long time since it was changed and is stuck pretty good. I don't want to mess something up by trying to get the bottom off while it is still on tractor. I still feel that my problem I had the other day was because the outside lever to the remote hydraulics was vibrating back until it engaged and that caused things to get hot and my remotes started malfunctioning. Thank you for all of your help. I really like this tractor but, still trying to learn things about it. All I have been around are Massey Fergusons and International Harvesters until I bought this Case.

Do not tap the filter canister w/ a hammer. I know that because......... We ended up getting a replacement at the salvage yard and it finally cracked loose with a breaker bar and a 4 foot pipe. A lot of people didn't change the filters very often, I'm afraid to say. Good Luck with your 770. Don

I have had excellent results removing the bottom of a stubborn canister with the Air Impact Wrench. The rapid jar of the wrench seems to break them loose.
