Rear tire needed for Selectomatic 1200

This tractor is used for plowing up food plots and bushhogging dove fields. I need a new tire and my dealer is saying somewhere in the area of $800. That a lot to spend for something I don't use that often. Any Ideas???
15.5 x 38

Look around and get prices on BKT 's , they have some real good prices with the recent oil glut .

Where are you located?

Look at it another way. If the tractor cannot be used due to a defective tire, then the tractor is basically worthless. If $800 is all it takes to make that tractor useful once again, then it is money well spent. Take it one step further and install TWO new rear tires, and now you have a tractor that is good to go for as long as you need it, and will be easy to sell when that time comes.

Thanks for all the help and advice on this. I have made the executive decision for now to put in a boot and some carpet as an extra barrier. If this holds then great. If not I will take the plunge and buy some new tires.

$800 seems awful high for a 15.5x38

Does that price include a new tube and labor for mounting.

You might want to call a salvage yard nearest you and see if they got one for sale but I wouldn't pay more than $150 for one unless it was real good.
