Case M series Plow with Pictures

Picked up a model M series plow the day before yesterday. It's 2-14" Also got a gauge wheel to go with it. The throw away shares and more modern colters will be much easier to find and replace. The M will replace our E21 and BER since it will mount to VAC, 300, and 730 easily. The E21 and BER will be posted in the photo ads in a few days.

So here are a few questions I have:

What does the "C" stand for on the EXC14 stamps that are on the back of the moldboards?

Does anyone have a good picture of the tail wheel that would have been on this plow?

What version of "M" is this plow? M, MR, MRB?

Enjoy the photos and thank you for the help.

A survey of my plow literature seems to indicate that the C may stand for "chilled." This would indicate that the moldboards are made of a special cast iron alloy which is surface-hardened on the wear side (during the casting process) for extra long life. Crucible shares are more brittle than steel shares (this and their expense, are their main disadvantages), so this may be the reason that your moldboard is cracked, rather than bent. I believe that the standard EX moldboard (marked EX14, EX16, etc.) is steel. Also, if your moldboards are about 3/8-1/2" thick, rather than 1/4" thick (thickness of standard steel EX), then this would confirm my suspicion.

Thank you for the information. I'll have to look at the moldboard again tomorrow. I don't remember seeing a crack and hopefully it is just a scratch in the paint.
