The original gauge in the 800 was busted, so I threw a new one in from the tractor store. It works but it seems the tractor runs very cool. It stayed around 130-150F most of the time. Would go up to maybe 180 for a bit when pulling big hills. Does this sound right, or is the guage way off on its calibration?

It does and it works, we had it out and boiled it during rebuild. Must have screwed something up when I put it back in, or the new chinese guage is shite. I guess I should just take the guage out and boil some water, see what it reads.

My 411 run in the WHO tractor Ride last month performed exactly as your 800. I had just replaced the water pump and new hoses the night before. It was not until she started taking a few hills did she finally bump to 180* then settled down as yours on the straight runs. Sounds like you got it right.

sounds more than A - OK to me if you are just roading around , it will run cool ,, grind a couple tons of feed , hook a plow or a round baler to it or go discing on a hot day of 95 dgrees plus ,, then you mite see it get too hot ,,. this is a farm tractor built and engineered to work and stay cool , not a prissie prius ,.. lol

Ok that makes me feel more comfortable about it. We did about 160 miles that weekend, and it never seemed to be running hot, so I didn't worry about it. Glad to know that is just how they run.
