unlucky owner of a case 1737

Help, please I have the case disease! I tried for years to purchase this 1737 case uni-loader, 10 to be exact I thought I had finally acquired something useful; but I was very wrong. I have to admit all I bought was a money Pit!!! Everything works but the clutch, gearbox tore up clutch has been welded (two piece variable pulley) missing small hydraulic cylinder that operates this clutch. I need someone's help, anyone's help ... I have bought the parts manual, service manual, does anybody have any spec's or pictures of any kind of the mysterious clutch hydraulic cylinder??? Is there anyone out there that will have pity on a foolish old man that bought some fool's gold? Any info in this area will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

I had a few worn parts for a variable,,,, not sure what I have now,,, the 1700 series to me was by far the best balanced machines ever made, I Love them,,, But they had to be greased in several key areas or they did what you are dealing with,,, I will look but I am thinking I do not have much left,,,

Below is a link to the parts catalog.

Are you looking for the swiveling oil feed to the variable drive that feeds oil to the rotating pulley (which looks like a little hydraulic cylinder) or the hydraulic cylinder components fed by that which are stuffed inside the variable pulley itself?

Depending upon which you actually need, you will find the parts breakdowns in the "Hydraulics" or "Main gearbox and drive" sections of the on-line catalog.

I have a 1530 Uniloader. I put a VG-4D Wisconsin in mine. Lot more power than the original Wisconsin engine. Dad had a 1737 Uniloader with the Case 188 diesel engine. Mine use to tear up drive belts because the variable pulleys were in bad shape. Found out Owatonna swather variable pulleys are the exact same thing. Swapped mine for some good ones from a swather and still working good. This was many years ago, Owatonna swathers are probably hard to find now. The drive on a 1530 and 1737 are the same.

That's great to know Steve! the dsl model was the 1740 we sold a LOT of them here I Love them someday,, I bet the parts swather I have here has the one you are talking about

Thank you, for responding I am missing everything swivel oil feed and the little hydraulic cylinder that is suppose to open the pulley to give the different speeds. I have not been able to get any specs on cylinder length, bore,or cylinder tube thickness, I have built many hydraulic cylinders; I have a break down of the internal parts no sizes.

Thank you, for responding I really need some exploded views the service manual does not really service my curiosity or answer the questions needed to build a replacement cylinder. I contacted case personally and they basically said,"Good Luck Buddie". The parts that are listed in the manual are of parts no longer available, case suggested hunting through the bone yards and hope some parts are left to find! I purchased the parts manual and service manual,$51.00 and $67.19.

Thank you, for responding I am not sure what you are talking about is this a similar clutch setup how would I research this other part mentioned below:

Found out Owatonna swather variable pulleys are the exact same thing.

you could try going through melroe or bobcat buddy of mine has a 610 that varible pulley came loose ruined the crank he likes the machine went all out overhauled the motor new crank and that hole pulley is new i think that cylinder came new like complete assembly.

Thank you for checking! I'm a heart patient been on this computer all day; just about give out. I appreciate any help what so ever.

Thank you for responding so quickly, I will try and research this info you mentioned. I am just about give out, I have been researching everywhere and I have the heart condition and copd; at this time in the evening my batteries start playing out! thank you for helping.

Here is a pic of a Owatonna swather I have hear, the pulley does indeed look to be the same, Great job on that Steve!! all I have left from the repair is this set of pulleys, if I could not find the correct items I am thinking a person could take the setup off this type of swather and use the mechanical part of it and build a way to use a small hyd cylinder to make it work,,,, I am betting there are a few in salvage that still have the parts you need
