vac 13 tranny

Rodney called today ,and wanted to know why he could not get his VAC 13 to come apart betewwn torque tube and tranny,,. told him perhaps the pto needed to come out?? but I really don't know? and would ask you guys ,,. I also told him to pull shifter cap and look for a lobe bolt In there ,,. his trouble is that the tranny lokx up ,, not sure why he felt the need to take apart there .... I told him long ago to remove the brakes and see if it gives him trouble,,.forgot to ask if he did that ,,.

It should slide right apart there if he has all the bolts out. Gaskets can be tough.

They can be a bear sometimes. The problem is the locator pins and the studs. If there has been water in the torque tube the coupling may be rusted but it will slide apart with some force. The key seems to be keeping in straight alignment as it is backed off of the pins & studs. I used plastic felling wedges to bump it and maintain the alignment. You might have to rig up a couple of jacks.
