question on SC cam

Can't get my trusty 1941 SC to hit on all four tonight.
Plugs and wires didn't help. Going to look closer at the
distributor tomorrow.

Was wondering if SC's had trouble with flat lobes on the
cam shaft?

If do end up with a cam problem. Can I change the cam
without removing the engine? I know the front cover has to
be removed.

sc has a constant miss , or ,does it get worse as it warms up?,, I would bet a dollar to a donut that the exhaust manifold has burned out or crakt on the intake portion and it is now sharing gasses ,, a crack will let it run normal til it gets hot and opens up ,,.. all 3 sc s I have had that problem when I got them ,,,

Brother has a model SC that had cam lobes worn badly years ago. Sure ran better after he replaced it and lifters. To it's credit the tractor had MANY hours on it, needed timing gears too as the teeth were about to shear off..

This is my parade tractor. It sat all winter inside with a plastic drop cloth over it.
I started it the first time this spring in April. It ran on three cylinders. I cleaned the plugs(they looked like they had gas varnish on them) and then it ran fine.

Tractor sat till May. Same thing. I had to clean the plugs. I put new plugs in it in June. Last night I tried starting it. It once again it would only hit on three.

Removing the wires one at a time. I couldn't tell it was running any different. I traded wires and plugs with my 1948 SC. That didn't change anything.
