Smooth Block SC

I bought this SC in February from Biewers Salvage in Barnesville MN. It was pretty rough when i got it. Engine wise it was loose but it ended up needing wrist pin bushings, rings, and a camshaft thrust washer. Sheet metal wise it needed a lot. I've been working on it since and finally just about have it done. I still have a few minor details to get put on it such as the shutters and shutter control rods, lift assist springs for the 2 point, and new gauges.
It is serial number 4500561 and was built December 20th 1940 and was shipped to Peavey Elevator Co. in Wahpeton, ND on December 24th, 1940. Here are some pics:

Looks like you have done a lot of good work. The fenders look to be in great shape for a tractor that old. Did you do a lot of work on those?

I actually switched fenders from another tractor i have that is stuck. The originals have a few dings and the braces on the back are rusted through.

The LP manifold that was on it was casted by the H&S company from Ollie, IA i believe. The manifold is actually two separate pieces. I have never seen another like it. The rest of it was homemade i believe.

Dang it amazes me how many of the smooth blocks that still pop up and can be found. Wasn't all that many of them made in the grand scheme of things.

Very nice tractor! I am glad there are still people that have the desire and ambition to proceed with a large project like this. From the first
pictures it looks like it needed a very large amount of work. I added a smooth block to our collection last year after having them evade me for
15 years!!! There are more differences to these smooth blocks than one would expect, I can easily identify 6 major differences between them
and a regular sc.
