VAC modification

I really like my 51 VAC but have always hated dealing with the battery behind the gas tank. Very hard to get to and my shoulders don't like lifting it out. Also hate the rust associated with batteries behind the tank and over the tool box.
Welded this holder on to some steel already bolted on the tractor and only mod is the hole in sheet metal. Can be repaired easily if someone wants it restored after I am gone. It is a work tractor on our place.

Yes it is pretty cramped in the battery compartment. One cable has to have a tight uturn bend to get hooked to the starter switch. The angle of the hood makes removal a little difficult also. And of course you have the electrolosis issue. Looks like a good solution. As much as I dislike the battery location on my DC, it is much more convienient. Of course the correct police won't like your fix, but its your tractor. gobble

The correct police would not like a lot of the things I have done to tractors and equipment over the years.
But that is their problem, not mine. LOL

I changed my DC to what Richard did . I bolted a battery tray on the left side in front of and above the brake housing and put my toolbox up on the battery platform . Much more logical layout ...

While the correct police may not like it I can appreciate why you did this and you were very un-intrusive about doing so. I'd give it an A+ pretty darn neat and a lot more friendly.
