Electronic Ignition Conversion

Are there any electronic ignition kits out there that can be used with positive ground systems? I've maintained the original positive ground system on my restorations and would like to keep them configured in that manner.... - Joe

This site ytmag offers them. Riley Tractor Parts has them also but need go through one of their Dealers to order.

Pertronix offers a full line of conversions. I went to their website to figure out which one I needed then found it cheaper on Ebay.

Thanks for the information guys, but I'm not finding anything compatible with a positive ground system. I know I can convert the tractors to negative ground, but I'm trying to avoid that.... Still looking for a
solution for a positive ground system.

Pertronics makes alot of thier kits in either positive or negative ground. Jst call them and tell them what your looking for and I'll bet they have it. jstpa

Joe, The kits are indeed made in both polarities as well as voltades for most distributors, what is your distributor number? Which dist are u working one? If for the 6003 distributor which most small block Cases if you go to the VAC parts site this forum it gives instructions to call with your needs. Tisco's numb would differentiate by a p instead of an n in the kit number. You may have to do a little detective work to find it, incidentaly. I have used an Ignitor11 as my kit of choice for the Delco 90 degree conversion kit in my last conversion, it is not as fussy and will handle lo ohms coils without heat damage and is "smarter"whatever that means.

Drop a note with the distributor number and I will try to sort it out for you if you wish.

Thank you for the information and clarification. The two tractors I was going to start with have the following distributors: IAD-6003-2J, and IAD-6003-2F. I like the idea of the Ignitor11 not being as fussy....my easy projects have a habit of getting more complex... Thank you again for the help and guidance. - Joe

Joe, I think if I were you I'd call the Pertronix tech line, they have been extremely helpful to me and redid a kit that they sent that the spark was out of phase with the rotor position free of charge.

They will simply need the dist number , voltage and polarity. 909-547-9058 will get you there.

Joe editing to let you know that if you locate the Ignitor PN for your application the Ignitor 11 will be the same number with a 9 prefixing the original, Ex--1142 ignitor-----------91142 Ignitor 11
