Hi there new to the forum and case tractor, I recently inherited a case 511B tractor with a three point mower attached to it and had a question. I am having problems with the hydraulics to raise the mower the engine has to be running at a high rate of speed then it is jerky going up then if I let the mower down it goes down with a bang. Is there a hydraulic filter in the system if so where is it located? And where is the oil level for the hydraulics located? I found a dipstick on the big 1 1/8 nut in front of the seat is that where the level is checked? And how is the oil level for the final drives checked did not see a dipstick for that on the tractor. Or could there be something wrong with the hydraulic valve body itself? Thanks in advance for any help.

follow the above link. The 310B and 510B hyd oil dipstick is in the same place.

This should help, I would bet you are low on hyd oil

Thanks for the quick reply larry Mi and Case Nutty 1660 I will be back down on the farm Wednesday and check the oil level in the hydraulics as per the information and pics you provided they look like they should be great help. I did notice that when I checked the transmission dipstick oil level it was way overfull and reading on here sounds like my hydraulic fluid could be transferring to the transmission thru the rockshaft piston seals. I am going to drain it down to the correct level and fill the hydraulics and see what happens. I did order a service manual for this tractor so hopefully that will help with my endeavors in trying to repair this tractor myself. hahaha. Thanks again for the help.
