how do you repair a minor block leak

I have a Case 600 that someone managed to crack the block on in years past. They had it stitched and welded. It didn't leak until I tried to smooth it off before painting it. It now has had water and antifreeze in it for the past year and a half. It doesn't leak enough to land on the floor, but it weeps just enough to keep the block damp and mess up paint. The coolant has barely gone down in a year and a half. I put in a couple of bottles of block weld and followed the directions but it didn't seem to have any effect. Has anyone on here got a surefire answer for this

Thank You for the replies. Do I need to drain the block first or will it work with the current weep? I have used JB Weld very little.

Drain the antifreeze, grind the paint, rust, and contamination off leaving a rough surface for the JB weld to hold on to, and do several thin layers. Thick layers will run like thick paint. Good stuff. Works well if prep is right.

Hope it works for you, but I would think you would need to use something that could heat/cool at the same rate as the motor block. Otherwise it will just come loose and fall off. Have an expert welder braze the crack on cast iron

My experience was trying to patch a metal gas tank, did not work, bought new tank, problem solved.

I had run into similar situations. I have had permanent success (if the crack won't spread)by wire brushing till the metal is clean (real clean) wash ith brakekleen or a good degreaser. Coat with soldering flus and tin with self tinning soldering flux, then us solder to lightly coat suspicious areas. Properly don it is the last you will ever worry about it.

Get a bottle of water-glass (sodium silicate), pour it into radiator and run it until engine is up to temp. Red Devil makes a stove sealer that uses s. silicate which is what I used 20 or 25 years ago on a VAO with the typical VA left-side block crack and it's still holding
