Finally, this afternoon, got the Steering fixed. For those of you following this saga, hopefully, someone will gleen something from this to maybe use later. 3 weeks ago rear steering went screwy. Did all the tests, and they pointed to a rear sensor problem. Pulled the rear sensor & bench tested, & it proved faulty. Bought a "Re-Man" Sensor from CASE, installed it & everything was fine. Steering worked well. Went back & weather proofed the connections, sealed everything up & rear steering was worse than before. Welcome to John Saeli's Bizzaro World!! I knew it was too easy!! Anyways, I ordered a new rear harness, replaced that this afternoon and Finally, all is good. Had a double whammy.

John, Glad to hear all is well again. Congrats on the fix. I have never had to trouble shoot one of those systems. Really sort of happy for that, LOL. Rod.

Thanks Men. Tom: Nothing obvious, but after the initial hookup of the wires, and it worked, there was some stressing of the harness when I buttoned everything up. At my wits end, I reasoned that it must be something w/ the harness, such as a broken wire. The old harness is all intact, I did not inspect it. Anyways, she's working great now, "Around the Yard". It's too wet to get back out in the field. You know the old saying, "Well it worked in the Shop"!! Bottom line, I keeping my fingers crossed, w/ a prayer!!

With me being an IH mechanic, when CaseIH was formed it was a real challenge. All of a sudden, Case expert. Ya , right. Had a couple of those give me fits while at the dealership and one after I retired. First one (if I remember right) ended up being a loose set screw in wheel sensor. Second one was a combination of the electronic control switch and the centering of the hydraulic component rear steering valve. Third was a pinched front wiring harness. The thing that needs to really be impressed on operators is to make darn sure you put switch in front steer only when moving at high speed. One complaint was it wanted to dive off the road while traveling down the highway. All it takes is a temporary glitch in the electronics or wiring for major happenings. Having it in front steer only cuts off all electronic control and if the hydraulic controls are giving you trouble you will know it with a rear end not following you correctly.
