504 non turbo/turbo injection pump

Quick question for the diesel guru's. I recently replaced the engine in my 2290 due to a spun rod bearing with one from a non turbo'd power unit. When I swapped it in I added the tractors original turbo to it. My question is do I need to do anything to the injection pump from the power unit due to the addition of the turbo? It seems fine so far but I didn't know if there would be any long term affects I should know about. I don't really need any more power than what it has currently as all it does is run a hydroswing and loader in a haying operation.

I don't think the turbo will help much without the extra fuel it needs from the matched pump and injectors

Jeremy, as you added the turbo to a NA engine the fuel delivery system is not calibrated the same as it was on the turboed engine, as noted, the fuel delivery probably have to be increased to see much advantage from the turbo.

As noted, the timing should be set to the turbo engine specs and I would not be surprised if the CR was slightly different between the NA and turboed engines but in the past kits were made to update to turbos with no regard for CR changes so I would not lay awake nights worrying about that.

A session on a dyno and keeping the power level consistent with near stock would be advisable.

Hi Mel, thanks to both you and Tom for your answers. I knew that the pump would not be putting out as much as much as the original pump but
wasn't sure if there would be negative effects to not turning it up. As I said I really dont need the extra power, if I wouldnt have needed
to get a different exhaust manifold, aircleaner setup etc I probably wouldnt have even bothered to put the turbo back on lol. It seems to be
running well so far, starts very well and no sign of any heating issues, exhaust or water so for the time being I think I'll run it and see
how things go, maybe this fall I can get sometime to put it on a dyno and fine tune things a bit.
