1190 Fuel Leak

I finally got my 1190 in the shop for a regular service and to make some long over due but minor repairs.

It's been leaking fuel where the fuel line comes out of the tank going to the lift pump. It was plenty tight so I was going to go ahead and just replace the whole line but I can't seem to find anything that will work. The fittings don't match NPT, Flare or Compression fittings, NAPA couldn't come up with anything to help me out and both local CNH dealers (one of which deals mostly with older tractors) deemed the part number obsolete. Does anyone know the specifications for this fuel line: what size, thread, taper, etc are the fittings, or where could I find a whole new line? The end on the lift pump has the flare fitting and an o-ring, but the end on the fuel tank did not have an o-ring. Is there supposed to be an o-ring on each end or is it correct as it is? If there is supposed to be an o-ring on the tank end as well, that would be a simple fix and explain the problem.

Thank you in advance for your help,

I have made that before for a few older DBs. If memory serves, I reused the nuts from the ends of the old line, and used steel brake line and a brake flaring tool. One end may have got a brass compression ferule.

Is that a steel line or a plastic one? I don't have an 1190 to look at. My 1194 is plastic, they can be made by reusing the ends and epoxying on nylon tubing.

If memory serves the thread is a BSP form of some sort 19 threads per inch sticks in my head.

A google search of BSP (British straight pipe)threads will probably get you headed in the right direction. One version has the conical seat on the inside.

Thank you, that helps tremendously. I was affraid it was going to be metric but I'm not surprised...to be expected out of a european tractor I guess. My next stop was going to be the hydraulic shop but I didnt think of McMaster-Carr.

Its a hard plastic line now but I was wanting to upgrade to steel anyway. I'll have to do some looking around for metric fittings and see what I can come up with.
