Yet another LP question - 800

I'm learning about propane rigs through you guys so here's another question. The 800 will start when the primer button on the vaporizer is held but as soon as it is released, the engine stops. But, if I squirt carb cleaner into the carburetor it starts and runs fine. What's happening?

I don't know what the problem is, but will throw out some ideas. Check the hose and clamps from the regulator to the carb. It could be leaking and letting air in. Which when transitioning from a primer charge to a metered flow might be "diluted" so it won't run. Mine has no choke, if yours does you can try choking it, thereby increasing the vaccum on the regulator. Air cleaner, clean, getting enough air. or air cleaner plugged not getting enough air. Is it possible that when priming with wet carb cleaner, your pistons valves are wet making for a greater vaccum. There by making the reulator work.Maybe the vaporizer/regulator is not working correctly. I'm kinda new at this LP thing too. Just learning as I go. Just like you. gobble

if you have a primer on the vaporizer it has been changed from the original Ensign. it must be a Century or a Impco. if the carburator is still Ensign you will have problems. if the choke cable is still on the tractor try choking it. have someone hold the primer button down while you try to start it. could also be a vacuum leak as already stated.

Both are Impco. Starts with the primer depressed but as soon as it is released it stops (see original post). No choke on this carb. I'll check for vacuum leaks.
