Case 1394 clutch problem

Tractor is newly acquired and has always been hard to go in gear, slave cylinder is workin properly, today while baling hay clutch went out, will not stop, and will not go in gear with engine running, any help with this is greatly appreciated, I'm not familiar with Case tractors and the dual clutch setup for pto, and pto clutch lever on side on housing will not go forward as well, without pulling it manually, which is disengaging it.

PTO clutch has not worked rite, lever on side of housing is stiff, and will not move freely, it was hard to get into gear from the start, but did work, and was usable, I freed up pto, and clutch seem to work better, so I figured I would try it on the baler, about an hour of baling, clutch would not stop tractor, and it wont go in gear with engine running, this morning I pushed lever on side of housing forward manually, and clutch had pressure when pushed, it went into gear, but then it faded out again

Is there enough oil in the master cylinder? Sounds like a hydraulic problem if it comes and goes.

DO NOT use brake fluid in the master cylinders. The right fluid is "LHM" fluid, which is a thin mineral based hydraulic oil. I have used ATF fluid in a pinch.

Brake fluid will destroy the seals in your slave and master cylinder in no time at all. Might be what you are experiencing. Does the oil smell like brake fluid?

Fluid is rite stuff, mineral oil base, all of that is workin fine, clutch lever works properly, it has something to do with pto clutch, which doesn't freely move by itself at side of transmission. I haven't had time to look further through hole in bottom to see if pressure plate is moving. I do believe that's where the problem is, clutch never slipped and worked good except for hard to go in gear ever since in came here. It's nice tractor, most everything works on the tractor, it sat for long time before it came here, and I think it was near salt water, has lots of surface rust on cab, and most of the ground wires had to be cleaned

The only thing that comes to mind would be a mechanical breakage in the clutch pack itself. Maybe a broken arm or pin that is moving around.

The bottom cover might show you something, but there isn't much you can do through that small hole.

Yes, I'm thinking something along that line too, I'm going to look in hole at bottom with clutch being depressed to see whats going on, Thanks for your help
