Question 1370 D.O.M. Piston Seals

My 3 point is dropping and pumping back up almost continuously on my 1370. The heavier the load the faster. When I shut off the tractor with the arms up and a medium load on them, they drop all the way from max height down to minimum in under 10 seconds. I have never replaced the seals but looking at the manual it looks pretty straightforward.

Few questions.

I will replace the seals on both sides (part number A137343). Do I need to replace either or both of the rings (part number A63393, two per piston)? Is there anything I need to do with the liner? I assume I should also replace the cap O-ring (A23316), but should I replace the liner O-ring (A23315)?

Do I need to drain the hydra fluid from the transmission to do this repair? If not, how much can I expect to come out when I remove the tube feeding the cylinders and then the cylinder caps?

Thanks for all the help!

Barry each piston has a seal and a couple wear rings, replace them all. Normally the piston and sleeve will have some pretty deep scratches in them. I have never replaced them, just ran a hone in the cly and buffed the pistons. The main seal on the piston is a tough one and seems to do a good even if stuff looks rough. Yes replace the o ring in cap, you do not need to drain all oil but some and hope the sleeve stays up in place. Have fun, not a bad job,. Rod.

Thanks Rod. That all makes perfect sense. I ordered the seals, rings, and O-rings today and will get this done next week. Biggest part that worries me is the sleeve moving or coming out and then having a shop full of hydraulic oil and going to spend another $300 or so on oil. So I'll probably drain it down at least half and see how it goes.
