Battery removal on 1170

I have 2 batterys that need replacing & was wondering how to remove them. No info in the I&T shop manual I have. I see 3 bolts on side that fender attaches to. Is this where I start? Thanks

Remove the cables and one stop bolt and the battery box slides out the front.
Might want some help to catch the battery box, it's heavy.

Are you referring to the bolt on the side of box about 6 inches from the front? Anyhow, knowing the box slides I think I should be able to figure it out. Thanks much again.

Those trays can be stuck, or can fall on your feet, just speaking from experience Dave K

If you have a cab on the tractor, there should be a small piece of sheetmetal, in front of the cab, underneath that has two bolts to take off before it will slide out.

Obviously you will take the top plate off and take the cables off first. As below, be very careful when sliding out. Most people fab a new box/or rework the old box and place it on the right side (sitting in the cab)of the tractor, just ahead and below the starter so you don't have to mess/fight with the sliding box underneath.
