50's Case Tractors @ auction

I have a 51 with all matching numbers that has live power PTO and Eagle Hitch. I have heard of several others. There were also a few with Eagle Hitch that did not have live power that were just older.

I've a '51 SC with proper numbers that's live power and Eagle hitch equipped........So it must have been available at the tail end of the year, perhaps?

L.F., I thought the very same when I read the sale bill. Glad to be enlightened on the subject. You can just about learn something new everyday on this forum. gobble

would not be surprised if that was fact ,,. full speed ahead mentions what serial # break when the dc had live power. case never waited til the end of yr to change up and improve , seems like when most old stok was run down and everything was ready to roll on the new idea ,, they simply noted the serial # change over , ..guys,, these tractors should be worth MUCH more than what they will bring ,,. there will be bargains at this auction ,and very nice tractors with awesome options ... mn is a long ways from Louisville,.. but I probably will try to watch this auction ,, ,,but I really should not buynything because of shippn costs

Case converted most of the remaining warehouse stock of 1951 tractors to eagle hitch in 1952 when they weren't selling, even at very reduced prices. Case also converted many of the remaining 1952 and 1953 DC tractors to AP (aluminum pistons) in 1954 to help them sell. Additionally, case changed the clutch springs in both SC and DC foot clutch tractors to prevent clutch slipping starting in April of 1954. Later, Case retrofitted the remaining DC foot clutch stock with an over-center type clutch pedal helper spring to make it easier to push in the clutch. Thus, I would not be at all surprised if Case converted some 1951 tractors to live PTO at the warehouse, and retained their original serial numbers (case also re-numbered many older tractors when they updated them at the warehouse). Thus I am not surprised that case may have converted some 1951 DCs to live PTO. However, I would need a build card documenting the change to be convinced. It is too easy to change the tag, and also possible to convert an older transmission to live PTO (though this is hardly practical).
