I have heard the 500 diesels have problems with the fuel injection pumps if they have sat for a while. I understand they are likely to shear the shaft in the pump or leak fuel into the oil pan overnight. Can this be easily fixed or can a injection pump from say a late 900 or 930 fit straight on?

The 500 originaly came with a Bosch PSB pump that has 6 inj lines in a circle on top. I take the pump off the tractor and see if the input shaft turns. If it doesn't put wd40 or a rust penetrant in the inlet and outlet of the head of the pump and start working the shaft back and forth, but don't force it. I've freed up several pumps this way. If some one has turned the motor over then the damage may already be done to the pump, or it will work ok. There is also a cover on the side of the pump to take off and see if the throttle lever is stuck. It should move forward and back when the throttle is opened and closed. A pair of pliers and wd40 can also loosen it up. As for the leaking of fuel into the motor, there is a transfer pump on the side of the pump that has a seal inside of it to replace. The inj pump doesn't have to be removed to fix it, but the shaft can be worn from the seal. If the 900 has a rotary PSB pump it will bolt right on, if it is the german in line pump the block adapter and inj lines will need to be used also. Good luck, If you need more clarification, ask.

I took an inline bosch off a case front end loader lines and all and put directly on the same engine you've got on my 520 ind.Lot more balls, use for pulling.Works good Hoss
