Looks like a pretty decent tractor. They are about 50 horsepower. I'm guessing it's a 1957 model by looking at the grill. I wouldn't worry about the seat as it is not the correct one. It has an after market wide front end which isn't a bad thing. You can get the missing claws for the eagle hitch easily as well. They are a very easy tractor to work on. 8 forward gears and 2 reverse. Some find the shift pattern difficult but it isn't once you figure it out. I have a 1955 and a 1957 400. Both are diesels though. Both have been good tractors for me. Parts are for the most part easy to come by. Others will have to comment about the price as I'm not familiar the the gas model prices.

Are you restoring or are you looking for a work tractor? I would factor in the cost of tires to start. $1500.0 to $1800.00 for tires. I have seen the gassers go for as little as $700.00 and as High as 2700.00 It is a great tractor to ride, and the trans is a little noisy by its own design. She has a ring- and- pinion final drive[in place of the roller chain drive earlier model Case tractors ].I would like to think she is quickly gaining her place in ag history as one of Case's finest engineered tractors. I have the 411 row crop version. It is hard to put a firm price on them with out knowing how hard she has worked in her life. Do your research, and don't hesitate to have her looked through if you are not too sure what to look for. Good hunting! Chuck

While it is the "breakout"" model for Case tractors. (New design, New paint scheme, graet looks and lines 45-50 hp 8 forward 2 reverse 17mph? road gear) I believe it is a sought after model by Case collectors. But the new generation tractor collectors aren't after 1955-1957 tractors. They grew up and cut their teeth on 1960's tractors.I think the price is a little high, but I'm a cheapskate. Like Chuck said tires are sooo expensive. Tire prices don't seem to be negothiable where tractor prices are. just a few random thoughts......gobble

(quoted from post at 17:30:01 05/11/15) There is a Case 411 advertised locally.

Gas engine with Eagle hitch. Says it runs OK, tires look fair, Seat back is missing.

$2800.00

Anyone have any info on this model looking for the good, the bad and the ugly.

Wouldn't hurt to take a look at it. The 400 is a real work horse. I've had three of them over the years and still have two. The tires on this one do look a little worn, but the carcasses look good yet. You'll need to find the latch parts for the eagle hitch though. They can be found on eBay. You'll also want the steps for the eagle hitch arms. $2800.00 seems a little high, but most sellers do start the price high, so they can come down a little. If you do go look at this tractor let us know what you think.

Thanks for all the reply's

Think I will pass on this one as I am still trying to get my Ford 960 row crop back in field.

SWMBO would a have a fit if I got another project.
