Light problem on a 1030

We recently added an additional rear worklight and 2 cultivator lights on our 1030. Now it trips the circuit breaker after about 5 minutes. Did we overpower the wiring? I thought that cultivator lights were designed in to the wiring harness. Thanks for any advice. Don

Hi Don, good talking to you earlier. Those breakers do weaken a little with age and use. I do not know what the amp rating is for one in a 1030, but am quite certain if you installed a new 40 amp your troubles would be over. A 40 is what the 70's used and there is a 50 available for those units that had a couple extra lights installed. I have both on the shelf but I think parts houses carry them. Rod.

Don, in the ops they say never to wire the cultivating lights to run with the field (front and back) lights,,I am betting they knew then the breaker was too small but that kept the gen from being over worked, a built in safety so to speak
cnt

I have gone to adding a eletromagnetic switch, (old Ford starter selonoid) when I add extra lights. Just saves a whole bunch of headaches with the old wiring, plus I feel its a bunch safer.
